Medical examiners have identified the hiker who fatally fell from Rattlesnake Ledge near North Bend on Saturday.

Officials say Ruben Maldonado, 28, of Snohomish County, fell more than 100 feet from the popular hiking area above Rattlesnake Lake about 12:15 p.m. Rattlesnake Ledge is in Iron Horse State Park, in the Cascade foothills southeast of Seattle.

Cathy Decker with King County Search & Rescue told KOMO-TV that the man clambered out onto a viewpoint, then lost his footing and fell.

The King County Medical Examiners Office has declared Maldonado's death accidental, confirming he died from injuries to his head and body.

The woman he was hiking with was not hurt.
