Hood Canal bridge could open this week

The Hood Canal floating bridge could reopen in a few days.

SHINE — The Hood Canal floating bridge could reopen in a few days.

The Transportation Department says the day may be determined by tests Tuesday on the drawspan. It must complete 20 perfect openings in a row.

The work is ahead of schedule. The department had expected the assembly work on the $500 million project that began on May 1 would keep the bridge closed until mid-June.
