Man killed in logging accident

Alaska state Troopers say a Washington State man was killed in logging accident on Prince of Wales Island in southeast Alaska.

JUNEAU, Alaska —

Alaska state Troopers say a Washington State man was killed in logging accident on Prince of Wales Island in southeast Alaska.

Troopers have identified the man as 42-year-old James Michael Wallace of Forks, Washington.

Wallace was working at the Phoenix Logging operation on Dall Island 45 miles south of Prince of Wales Island on Saturday when the accident occurred. Wallace was killed when he was struck with a piece of equipment while working in an active cutting area.

The body was taken to the Ketchikan Mortuary.
