Seattle Police raid four suspected brothel locations

A 43-year-old Marysville woman who calls herself "Rainbow Love" was arrested Thursday on suspicion of promoting prostitution and money laundering after a months-long investigation by Seattle vice detectives.

The Seattle Police Department's vice unit raided four locations — two in Seattle, one in Kirkland and the fourth at the woman's residence in Marysville, said police spokesman Mark Jamieson.

A 51-year-old man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from the state Department of Corrections, he said. Jamieson said additional arrests are likely.

Eighteen women and four men, all of whom were at a suspected brothel when the raids went down, were interviewed and released.

During a bail hearing this afternoon at the King County Jail, bail for the woman was set at $15,000.

The vice investigation was sparked by several neighbors of the suspected brothel in the 3100 block of Eastlake Avenue East, who complained to police about the activity going on there at all hours of the day. A massage parlor called "Sacred Temple" was an apparent front for a house of prostitution, Jamieson said.

"It'd been operating there for quite awhile and we were responding to a number of neighborhood complaints," he said.

The other locations "came into play as a result of their investigation," Jamieson said.

Also raided were suspected brothels in the 10000 block of Greenwood Avenue North in Seattle and another in the 700 block of Eighth Avenue in Kirkland, Jamieson said.

Detectives also searched the woman's Marysville home in the 3700 block of 103rd Street Northeast.
