In addition to letters and parcels, postal workers across the country will be picking up donations of food on Saturday during the National Association of Letter Carriers' annual "Stamp Out Hunger" drive.

In addition to letters and parcels, postal workers across the country will be picking up donations of food on Saturday during the National Association of Letter Carriers' annual "Stamp Out Hunger" drive.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the nation's largest single-day food drive, now in its 15th year, by leaving nonperishable food items like cereals or rice in bags by their mailboxes.

Donations will be delivered to local food banks. More than 73 million pounds of food were collected in 2008, according to www.helpstampouthunger.com.
