A young man was admitted to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his back after what may have been a drive-by shooting this evening near Alki Beach.

A young man was admitted to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his back after what may have been a drive-by shooting this evening near Alki Beach.

Police said the man apparently was shot as he stood outside a vehicle in the 2600 block of Alki Avenue Southwest at about 7:30 p.m. by assailants who fired from across the street, then fled. Police said the victim's injury appeared life-threatening.

Police said friends who were with the victim at the time of the shooting were questioned, and a vehicle struck by gunfire was held for evidence.
