Boat burns on the Columbia; no injuries
Two people escaped from a boat that caught fire on the Columbia River.
Two people escaped from a boat that caught fire on the Columbia River.
The U.S. Coast Guard says the owner of the 33-foot pleasure boat reported the fire Sunday morning. He and the other person aboard got into a life raft and floated away from the flames.
A Good Samaritan in another boat picked them up and took them to Skamokawa in southwest Washington.
A Coast Guard crew formed a 300-yard safety zone around the burning boat.
There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
