No more closed-door Seattle City Council budget briefings

The Seattle City Council will no longer hold closed-door budget briefing with the staff of Mayor Greg Nickels, according to a news release being prepared this afternoon.

The Seattle City Council will no longer hold small-group, closed-door budget briefings with the staff of Mayor Greg Nickels, according to a news release being prepared this afternoon.

On Thursday, a Seattle Times reporter was denied access to one such meeting in the office of City Councilmember Jean Godden.

In the news release, Godden said she will continue to take individual briefings to stay in the loop about the budget process, but small groups of council members will not be meeting under such circumstances.
