Former Seattle TV anchor runs for KingCo executive

Former Seattle TV anchor Susan Hutchison is running for King County executive.

SEATTLE —

Former Seattle TV anchor Susan Hutchison is running for King County executive.

In her announcement Wednesday Hutchison says the county needs new leadership that "does not believe the answer to every problem is a new fee or higher tax."

Hutchison has been executive director of the Charles Simony Fund for Arts and Sciences since 2003. It donates money to schools, museums and arts organizations.

She served on the task force that helped make King County offices nonpartisan.

Executive Ron Sims is leaving for the job of deputy secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Hutchison joins King County Council members Larry Phillips and Dow Constantine and Sen. Fred Jarrett of Mercer Island in the race to replace Sims.
