Opening day on Seattle water taxi sets record

Spring weather brought record ridership to the water taxi in Seattle on the first day of the season.

Spring weather brought record ridership to the water taxi in Seattle on the first day of the season.

King County Ferry District officials say 3,429 riders boarded the passenger boat Sunday on runs between West Seattle and the downtown area. The old record for opening day was 2,404 riders on April 29, 2007.

Now that county service is operating the service, the boat has a new look with new dock signs. The one-way fare is $3 for anyone over age 5, riders with a Metro bus transit slip pay $1 and Metro passes are accepted for full fare.
