complaints on hold
King County's top criminal-justice officials had planned to deliver letters complaining to County Executive Ron Sims about tentative 2010 budget cuts on Monday, but held off out of respect for Budget Director Bob Cowan.
Cowan, who asked all department heads and separately elected officials to plan for possible 11 percent spending cuts, was rushed to the hospital Saturday night with an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Fast work by paramedics and Harborview Medical Center give Cowan a good prognosis for recovery, Sims staffers said this week.
Sims sent a Twitter "tweet" Sunday morning that read, "Harborview Hospital in Seattle miraculously saved the life of a dear friend of mine. In any other hospital he would have died. I love them."
