Wash. gov signs more bills into law

Gov. Chris Gregoire has given final approval to several new laws.

OLYMPIA, Wash. —

Gov. Chris Gregoire has given final approval to several new laws.

Among the bills Gregoire signed into law Wednesday are new restrictions on payday loan collection efforts. That measure prohibits certain types of debt collection practices, including harassing and intimidating communication, or impersonating a police officer or other government official.

Another measure would require insurance companies to notify some people when their policies don't cover flooding.

---

The payday lending communication bill is Senate Bill 5164. The flood insurance law is Senate Bill 5417.
