Construction worker rescued after 12-foot fall

Seattle firefighters hooked a basket to a ladder this morning to rescue a construction worker who fell 12 feet onto the top floor of a five-story building under construction at 635 Elliott Ave. W.

Seattle firefighters hooked a basket to a ladder this morning to rescue a construction worker who fell 12 feet onto a floor of a five-story building under construction at 635 Elliott Ave. W., near the Seattle waterfront.

At 10:37 a.m., firefighters responded to a 911 call at the construction site, said department spokeswoman Helen Fitzpatrick. The injured man, who is in his 30s, was in stable condition and did not appear to be seriously hurt, she said. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Seattle police shut down a section of Elliott Avenue West to southbound traffic, but it has since reopened.
