A cyclist who suffered head injuries after she was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood died early Friday in Harborview Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman confirmed. The victim was identified as Carol Salomon, 60, a University of Washington faculty lecturer.
The woman was taken to Harborview after the accident at North 56th Street and First Avenue Northeast, just before 10:30 a.m. Police said the victim, who was traveling south, was not wearing a helmet.
Neither the 37-year-old male driver of the eastbound vehicle, a Toyota Prius, nor two passengers in the vehicle, were injured.
The university has confirmed that Salomon was a senior lecturer, specializing in the Bengali language, in the Department of Asian Languages and Literature. She had been affiliated with the department since 1983.
