A 20-year-old man crossing a street moments after getting off a bus was critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle about 7:40 p.m. Friday in the 13400 block Martin Luther King Jr. Way South in the Skyway area, just south of the Seattle city limits.
A State Patrol spokesman said the driver of the vehicle was in custody and being investigated for possible driving under the influence.
The spokesman, Sgt. Keith Trowbridge, said the pedestrian, whose identity was not disclosed, had gotten off the Metro bus at a nearby stop, and was attempting to cross the street behind the bus when he was struck by the westbound vehicle in an inside lane. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center.
Trowbridge said the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk.
