Free disposal of flood debris extended

King County residents of six communities still cleaning up from recent flooding will have 30 extra days to dispose of flood debris at no charge. The Metropolitan King County Council on Monday approved the extension of the fee waiver.

King County residents of six communities still cleaning up from recent flooding will have 30 extra days to dispose of flood debris at no charge. The Metropolitan King County Council on Monday approved the extension of the fee waiver.

That pushes the deadline back to Feb. 26.

Flood debris collection stations have been established in Carnation, Duvall, Issaquah, North Bend, Pacific and Snoqualmie.

The county's Solid Waste Division will provide vouchers to residents who suffered flood damage for free disposal of debris at any of King County's garbage transfer stations. For information about obtaining a voucher, call 206-296-4466.

Information in this article, originally published January 26, 2009, was corrected January 27, 2009. A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that that six temporary sites for disposal of flood debris in King County are still open. Those sites were temporary and no longer exist. A voucher program that allows residents to dispose of flood debris free of charge at the county's transfer stations has been extended to Feb. 26.
