Public-art funding cut proposed

The program that sets aside a portion of state building construction money for public art would be suspended for two years under a bill sponsored by Sen. Steve Hobbs of Lake Stevens.

Olympia

The program that sets aside a portion of state building construction money for public art would be suspended for two years under a bill sponsored by Sen. Steve Hobbs of Lake Stevens.

He said it would save $5 million in the next budget.

The program sets aside 0.5 percent of the money from state building projects, including schools.

Hobbs says it's a sacred cow that should be put out to pasture.
