A fake light-rail crash will clog part of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South in Seattle on Thursday morning, near South Cloverdale Street.

Firefighters, police, and transit workers are running an emergency drill from 9 a.m. to noon, when some road lanes will be blocked. The drill will simulate a collision between a southbound train and a car, whose driver made an illegal left turn against a red light, said Sound Transit spokesman Bruce Gray.

Agencies will also practice communicating over emergency radio channels, he said.

It is one of several drills scheduled before the route opens in July.
