Port Angeles girl accused of dumping baby in trash

Port Angeles police and State Patrol crime lab workers plan to sift through 60 tons of trash, looking for the body of a baby they say was thrown away.

PORT ANGELES, Wash. —

Port Angeles police and State Patrol crime lab workers plan to sift through 60 tons of trash, looking for the body of a baby they say was thrown away.

Police believe the baby was born alive Tuesday to a 16-year-old mother at a Port Angeles home. Investigators believe the baby was killed and put in trash that was picked up Wednesday. The Waste Management company says trash from that day is in two containers.

Police Chief Terry Gallagher told the Port Angeles Daily News the containers would be searched at a facility in Graham.

The girl was arrested Friday for investigation of murder. The girl's 41-year-old father also was arrested and is accused of disposing of the body.
