Seattle police have arrested a 46-year-old man they believe may be connected with a recent string of burglaries in Ballard.

Police said they received several 911 calls starting at 3:51 p.m. from people reporting seeing a man they believed was the burglar. Images of the man have been broadcast on local television news stations and on a neighborhood blog.

Police spokesman Jeff Kappel said officers stopped the man near the intersection of 20th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Market Street. A victim said the man was the burglar and he was arrested, Kappel said.

Police ran a criminal-background check and found that the man was wanted on a warrant out of Missouri. The man was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of a fugitive warrant.

He has not been booked on investigation of burglary. Police have not released details about the dates and locations where the burglaries occurred.
