An armored-car guard was slightly injured this afternoon when a thief grabbed a bag of money out of his hands and fled, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the guard had gone into a 7-Eleven store at 136th Street and First Avenue in Burien around 4 p.m. to retrieve money from an ATM. He was about to put the money into the armored car when he was confronted by a man estimated to be in his mid-20s to early 30s, according to sheriff spokesman Sgt. Jim Laing.
The suspect, who ran off, did not wield a weapon, according to Laing. "It was strictly snatch and grab," he said.
Nevertheless, the employee's finger was injured and police are classifying the crime as a "strong-armed robbery."
