The Mountain Loop Highway is closed until spring for public-safety reasons, says the U.S. Forest Service.

The Mountain Loop Highway is closed until spring for public-safety reasons, says the U.S. Forest Service.

Because of extreme weather conditions, access to the loop is closed from east of Silverton to Darrington for the winter.

However, access for people who live in the Bedal area is still available through Darrington, said Peter Forbes, district ranger for the Darrington Ranger District.
