Police have arrested two men who they say are responsible for a home-invasion robbery in Snohomish County last week, in which a woman was tied up for several hours while robbers ransacked her home.
The first arrest came late Monday night, after Tacoma officers stopped a car on a traffic infraction. The passenger in the car was one of the suspects, a 40-year-old Arlington man, according to the Snohomish County sheriff's office.
The robbery happened between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. last Thursday. A woman in her 50s was home alone in the 9000 block of 163rd Avenue Southeast, in rural Snohomish County between Snohomish and Monroe. The men accosted her in what police called "a takeover-style home-invasion robbery."
Police said the armed men forced their way inside when the woman answered their knock on the door. She was bound with plastic zip ties and placed in a bathroom. The men "spent a great deal of time" looting the home. They fled with several items, including the woman's wedding ring and a cache of weapons.
They also took the woman's black 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup, which officers found the next day in the Arlington area.
On Monday, police found that the suspect had duffel bags containing items stolen in the robbery. The man was booked into jail on another warrant unrelated to the home invasion, said Rebecca Hover, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.
Since then, he's been booked on possession of stolen property related to the home invasion. Other charges related to this case are expected, she said. He remains in Pierce County Jail.
Tuesday evening, Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 31-year-old man during a traffic stop. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on one count of first-degree robbery, kidnapping and burglary.
The victim did not suffer serious injuries, police said.
