Nov. 24. noon. COUGARS RETURN - After six months of combat operations and disaster relief, the electronic Attack Squadron 139 "Cougars" are returning to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island from the USS Ronald Reagan after supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. The 186-member squadron left in May for the San Diego-based carrier.

Nov. 24. noon. HOLIDAY TREE - A vintage truck will deliver a 25-foot holiday tree that will be the centerpiece of the Pike Place Market holiday decorations.

Nov. 24. 2:15 p.m.-3 p.m. KING COUNTY BUDGET - A news conference after final action to adopt the 2009 King County budget when the County Council resumes a special meeting. The news conference comes immediately following the final vote on the budget.

Nov. 25. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. ACHIEVEMENT GAP - A statewide advisory committee on reducing the African-American achievement gap will continue its discussion and planning. Among other items, the meeting will include a review of state and federal programs related to the achievement gap and a review of recent visits to school districts.
