Bail of $5,000 has been posted for a Colorado Marine arrested in Washington state on desertion and contempt of court charges.
Bail of $5,000 has been posted for a Colorado Marine arrested in Washington state on desertion and contempt of court charges.
Jail superintendent Ron Sukert says a Marine escort on Saturday will transport 23-year-old Lance Hering from the Clallam County jail to Camp Pendleton in San Diego County, Calif.
Port Angeles attorney Karen Unger said Hering's bail was posted Thursday. It wasn't clear who put up the money.
Hering was reported missing in August 2006. A friend said Hering had wandered off after he was injured in a rock-climbing accident near Boulder, Colo.
After a massive search, authorities concluded the report was a hoax.
Port Angeles police arrested Hering last Sunday after a tip from the Boulder County sheriff. He was with his father, Lloyd Hering, who was arrested for investigation of aiding and abetting.
