CANNON BEACH, Ore. — A rail fence has been replaced at an Oregon Coast overlook where a young child slipped and nearly fell 150 feet.
CANNON BEACH, Ore. — A rail fence has been replaced at an Oregon Coast overlook where a young child slipped and nearly fell 150 feet.
In June, 3-year-old Alaina Pitton toppled between the fence's rails while on vacation with her family.
She could have fallen to the beach below, but she grabbed some grass and a relative hopped the fence to save her.
The incident was captured on video, and shown on television.
Last week a temporary chain-link fence was put up at the viewpoint.
Chris Havel of Oregon Parks and Recreation Department says a permanent fence that does not obstruct the ocean view will be installed as soon as the material arrives.
