Seahawks release wide receiver Keary Colbert

Wide receiver Keary Colbert has been cut by the Seattle Seahawks following a disappointing stint with the team in which he failed to meet expectations.

RENTON, Wash. —

Wide receiver Keary Colbert has been cut by the Seattle Seahawks following a disappointing stint with the team in which he failed to meet expectations.

He came to Seattle in a trade with Denver on Sept. 17 and was released Tuesday. The Seahawks gave up an undisclosed draft pick to acquire the veteran, who they hoped would boost a receiving corps hit with massive injuries.

But Colbert struggled getting involved in the offense, catching only seven passes in seven games, with one touchdown. He also had a critical drop on third down early in the fourth quarter of Seattle's 21-19 loss at Miami last Sunday.

Colbert previously played for Carolina and with the Denver Broncos.
