Longview man pleads guilty to arson charge

A Longview man who hired two men to help him burn down the duplex where he was living pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit arson.

TACOMA, Wash. —

A Longview man who hired two men to help him burn down the duplex where he was living pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit arson.

The 27-year-old man, Ryan Mason Burge, faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 23 in federal court in Tacoma.

The Longview Daily News reports Burge hoped to collect renter's insurance. The two other men pleaded guilty to their part in the conspiracy in Cowlitz County Superior Court.

The fire in June 2007 caused $223,000 damage. A family living in the other side of the home escaped but lost their belongings.
