The King County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of a man who died after jumping off the Aurora Bridge on Monday morning.
Derik E. Loso, 48, of Seattle, was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center shortly after he jumped from the bridge. The release of his name was delayed while the medical examiner's office located the man's next of kin.
According to police, the man had threatened to jump from the bridge around 7:15 a.m. He hung off the edge of the bridge for about two hours before letting go shortly before 9:30 a.m.
He landed in an asphalt parking lot and died of blunt force injuries. The incident was witnessed by numerous people and snarled traffic during the morning's commute.
