Man jumps off Aurora Bridge

A man jumped from the Aurora Avenue Bridge this morning and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with unknown injuries, authorities said.

A man jumped from the Aurora Avenue Bridge this morning and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The extent of his injuries wasn't immediately known, authorities said.

The man threatened to make the leap around 7:15 a.m. and did it shortly before 9:30 a.m., said police spokeswoman Renee Witt.

The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, was unconscious and unresponsive when reached by emergency personnel, said Dana Vander Houwen with the Seattle Fire Department.

Lifesaving measures were being taken as he was en route to Harborview Medical Center, she said.

The incident snarled traffic during this morning's commute.
