Man dies from wounds after Saturday shooting in North Seattle

Corey Edward Trainer, the 22-year-old man shot in his car over the weekend in Seattle's Pinehurst neighborhood, has died, authorities said.

A 22-year-old man shot and killed in his car over the weekend in Seattle's Pinehurst neighborhood has been identified as Corey Edward Trainer.

Trainer died Sunday after being shot several times, according to the King County Medical Examiner's Office. The death has been ruled a homicide.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, Seattle police responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of 14th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 123rd Street.

Police found Trainer in his car with severe head and neck wounds. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and subsequently died, police said.

Police believe two different weapons were used in the shooting. There have been no arrests.

"It's an active and ongoing investigation," said department spokesman Mark Jamieson, adding that they were not characterizing it as gang-related.
