Seattle police have released a photograph of a man they say is a suspect in the sexual assault of a woman in her Wallingford home earlier this week.
The image of the man came from an unidentified business in Lynnwood and is being circulated by police in the hope that someone will be able to identify him.
Monday night, a woman was sexually assaulted in her home in the 1600 block of North 52nd Street between 9 and 10 p.m. while her children were sleeping and her husband was running an errand. According to police, the man entered the home and confronted the victim, threatened her, sexually assaulted her and stole some items before fleeing.
Seattle police spokesman Sean Whitcomb said the assault appears to be an "isolated incident" involving a man who was a stranger to the woman.
Police spokesman Mark Jamieson would not go into detail about how the investigation led police to the Lynnwood store. Police had earlier released a drawing of the suspect.
"Detectives have been working diligently on this case since it happened," Jamieson said. "This is where the investigation has led us. We would not be circulating the pictures unless we were quite certain." Police said the man should be considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached.
Instead, anyone with information about him is asked to call 911 or the Seattle Police Department Sexual Assault Unit at 206-684-5575.
Citizens can also report a crime tip through Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
