Railing knocked off Seattle Viaduct

A vehicle hit the guardrail on an Alaskan Way Viaduct off-ramp knocking a 30-foot concrete section 55 feet to the ground below.

SEATTLE —

A vehicle hit the guardrail on an Alaskan Way Viaduct off-ramp knocking a 30-foot concrete section 55 feet to the ground below.

No people or parked cars under the Seneca Street off-ramp were hit Monday by the falling debris.

Washington State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Emily Fishkin says city Transportation Department crews repaired the guardrail Monday afternoon after closing the offramp for 2 hours and 45 minutes. Fishkin says the repairs had been expected to take eight hours.
