Mariners could announce new GM soon
Tuesday could be the day the Seattle Mariners introduce their new general manager.
Tuesday could be the day the Seattle Mariners introduce their new general manager.
Major League Baseball does not like teams to make announcements that detract from attention on World Series games. Those begin on Wednesday.
If not Tuesday, the next likely day for an announcement could be Friday. That's a travel day for the World Series. Either that, or perhaps after the series concludes.
Mariners' executives want to name the replacement for fired GM Bill Bavasi and interim replacement Lee Pelekoudas by month's end.
They have given second interviews to these final candidates: Los Angeles Dodgers assistant GM Kim Ng (Eng), Milwaukee Brewers executive Jack Zduriencik (Zur-EN'-sik), Arizona Diamondbacks executive Jerry DiPoto and Toronto Blue Jays assistant GM Tony LaCava.
