The Associated Press

OLYMPIA — A lobbyist with ties to Republican candidate Dino Rossi is suing supporters of Gov. Christine Gregoire for defamation, over his appearance in a political attack ad.

Lobbyist David Ducharme says the independent political group Evergreen Progress is harming his reputation, because the ad appears to tie him to campaign financing lawsuits involving the Building Industry Association of Washington.

Ducharme has invested in property with Rossi. But Ducharme says the ad falsely implies that he's tied to the BIAW fundraising lawsuits.

He's asking King County Superior Court to order the ad pulled off the air. He also wants unspecified damages.

Evergreen Progress is funded mainly by the national Democratic Governors Association, and labor unions.
