King County has issued layoff notices to 126 employees whose jobs will end Dec. 31. And more than 100 additional employees could face layoffs at the end of next June.
Carolyn Duncan, a spokeswoman for King County Executive Ron Sims, said Tuesday the layoffs, combined with earlier layoffs and unfilled vacancies, will reduce the county payroll by about 380 positions.
Sims this week proposed a 2009 county budget of about $4.9 billion that envisioned the layoffs because of a $93 million budget deficit.
The County Council plans to draft its own version of the budget by Thanksgiving.
