Metro Transit and Sound Transit want public feedback to help plan for bus service in Southeast Seattle and Southwest King County in the next two years, particularly tied to the kickoff of light-rail service late next year.
Changes to bus service on more than two dozen routes are proposed for Southeast Seattle neighborhoods, including Skyway and West Hill, and in Burien, Des Moines, Tukwila, SeaTac and Federal Way. Renton and Kent also could be affected.
Eight community meetings are scheduled to discuss potential service changes. At each meeting, there will be a period for informal discussions with transit staff members. The meeting schedule:
• Seattle: 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16, Rainier Community Center, 4600 38th Ave. S., in the Columbia City area.
• Seattle: 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21, New Holly Gathering Hall, 7054 32nd Ave. S.
• Federal Way: 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22, City Council Chambers, 33325 Eighth Ave. S.
• Skyway-West Hill: 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23, the Fire District 20 Training Facility, 12424 76th Ave. S.
• Seattle: 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28, Jefferson Community Center, 3801 Beacon Ave. S.
• SeaTac: 1:30 p.m. Oct. 30, City Hall, 4800 S. 188th St.
• Tukwila: 6:30 p.m., Foster High School, 4242 S. 144th St.
Each meeting will focus on bus routes serving the area where the meeting will be held.
Besides the meetings, the transit agencies are conducting an online survey until Nov. 6. Information about the survey and meetings is online at http://transit.metrokc.gov/.
