A worker died after being pinned against a chain-link fence by a 1,000-pound crate full of glass south of Everett.
Firefighters said the accident happened Friday evening while the 35-year-old man was working at a manufacturing plant.
Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said the man and other workers were moving the heavy crate when it toppled onto him. He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died.
Tacoma
Shooting suspect competent for trial
A young man charged with a fatal shooting at Tacoma's Foss High School was found competent to stand trial.
After the ruling Friday, Pierce County Superior Court Judge Ronald E. Culpepper set a tentative trial date of March 9 for 20-year-old Douglas Chanthabouly.
Chanthabouly has been shuttled between jail and Western State Hospital since Jan. 3, 2007, when 17-year-old Samnang Kok was killed.
Defense lawyers agree he's now competent to stand trial on a first-degree murder charge, but they say he was insane at the time of the shootings. Chanthabouly has a documented history of schizophrenia.
A hearing on his sanity is set for Feb. 17.

Mount Vernon
Man held 14th time on DUI suspicion
A man is being held in the Skagit County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail after being arrested for the 14th time for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Superior Court documents say 46-year-old Aaron Bridge, of Mount Vernon, was arrested in Sedro-Woolley when a sheriff's deputy smelled alcohol during a traffic stop. The documents say he was driving with a suspended license.
The documents say Tuesday's arrest was Bridge's 14th for suspicion of DUI in 16 years. They say Bridge has been convicted at least four times in 10 years.
He was charged Thursday with felony DUI. The law allows prosecutors to charge anyone with four prior DUIs within the past 10 years with a felony.
