Kelso City Manager Paul Brachvogel is stepping down to become the chief attorney for the Cowlitz Public Utilities District.
Kelso City Manager Paul Brachvogel is stepping down to become the chief attorney for the Cowlitz Public Utilities District.
The city announced Tuesday that Brachvogel's resignation will take effect Oct. 24. Brachvogel also serves as city attorney, so the city will be looking to fill both of those jobs. It also is looking for a new chief of police, since Chief Wayne Nelson has said he will retire May 31.
Brachvogel says the new job will allow him to spend more time with his wife and kids. It also gives him a raise - the Kelso posts paid about $132,000 a year, while he will receive $146,500 at the utilities district.
