Scientists discuss marine trash at UW-Tacoma

About 33 marine scientists from around the world are meeting at the Washington-Tacoma this week to talk about the effect of trash in the oceans on sea creatures.

TACOMA, Wash. —

About 33 marine scientists from around the world are meeting at the Washington-Tacoma this week to talk about the effect of trash in the oceans on sea creatures.

Environmental scientist Joe Baker organized the event, which is sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

A NOAA program helps pay for removing lost and abandoned fishing nets in Puget Sound.
