Seattle
The Seattle Police Harbor Patrol found the body of a man believed to be the swimmer who disappeared Aug. 21 near Golden Gardens.
Police spokesman Jeff Kappel said the body was found Friday afternoon near the Shilshole boat ramp.
"It's a high possibility this is the missing swimmer from a week ago," he said.
The King County Medical Examiner's Office, however, has not yet positively identified the body.
During the search, authorities identified the missing man as 21-year-old Brent M. Sweet from Los Alamos, N.M.
Sweet and a companion had been trying to swim to a buoy about 200 yards from shore at about 8:45 that night, police said.
The Harbor Patrol helped rescue Sweet's 29-year-old friend.
Fire boats, police, the Coast Guard and a King County helicopter searched for Sweet over several days after he was reported missing.

Index
Repaving expected
to slow traffic
Expect travel delays on Highway 2 near Index this week as crews repair and repave the roadway.
From noon Tuesday to noon Friday, state Department of Transportation contractors will alternate letting eastbound and westbound traffic through on Highway 2 one mile east of Index.
Crews finished building a rock buttress to stabilize the hillside under Highway 2 earlier this month. Now they will remove the pavement, repair and repave the road.
