PORTLAND — A 74-year-old nude sunbather has been arrested on accusations he attacked a Portland man who mistakenly brought four children and two Chihuahuas to a clothing-optional beach.

Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings said 45-year-old Josh Meiller landed his raft at a spot he thought was several hundred feet from the nudist area of Sand Island at Rooster Rock State Park.

Hastings said the dogs ran toward the startled sunbather, who allegedly hit the dogs and then Meiller with a collapsible police baton.

Meiller suffered cuts, abrasions and a headache in Thursday's incident.

The following day, police arrested Donald Kenney of Vancouver, Wash., on charges of menacing and assault. He was booked at the Multnomah County Jail and released today.
