Federal Way police have arrested a 20-year-old Auburn man for investigation of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a man outside an apartment complex early this morning.
Detectives are still investigating the relationship between the slain 25-year-old man and the alleged gunman. The suspect is not being named because he has not been charged.
Officers called to the Park at Dash Point Apartments at Southwest 317th Lane and 50th Lane Southwest shortly before 1 a.m. found an unidentified man who had died from gunshot wounds, according to a department news release. Another victim, 22, was later found to be at Auburn General Hospital and transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he remains in serious condition.
Officers say that nearly 15 people got into a fight in the parking lot at the complex and at some point somebody opened fire, said police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock. Detectives have not determined why the group gathered or what caused the fight.
Three firearms were recovered at the scene and one car has been impounded as evidence, Schrock said.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Gregory Wells at 253-835-6751 or call 911.
