Congressional candidate Darcy Burner continued to out-raise incumbent Rep. Dave Reichert in the second quarter of 2008, according to reports the campaigns made to the Federal Elections Commission on Tuesday.
Burner, a Democrat who lost to Reichert in 2006, also spent more than her opponent in the hotly contested 8th Congressional District race.
In 2006, the two campaigns each raised more than $3 million by November. Reichert, of Auburn, has been targeted by Democrats as one of the most vulnerable incumbent Republican members of Congress again this year.
On Tuesday, Reichert reported having $916,401 on hand — more than a $200,000 increase over what he had at the end of the first quarter. Burner had just under $1.25 million — about $300,000 more than she had after the first quarter of the year. Burner raised $585,000 from April to June, and Reichert raised $347,000.
The candidates have one more reporting deadline before the Aug. 19 primary election.
