Pit bull dropped into Cedar River was tied to concrete weight

Somebody filled a gas can with concrete then tied it around the neck of a female pit bull before dropping the animal into the Cedar River. Authorities are offering a $2,500 reward for information about the case.

The Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information into the July 4 drowning of a female Pit Bull in the Cedar River.

King County Animal Care and Control officials said someone tied a gas can filled with concrete around the neck of the dog, then dropped it into the fast-moving river and leaving it there to die.

A necropsy performed on the animal found it may have been alive before being submerged into the river.

"This is a horrific and tragic case," King County Animal Care spokeswoman Nancy McKenney said. "We need more information from the community to help find those responsible for this needless death."

Those with information are asked to call King County Animal Care at 206-296-3958.
