PORTLAND, Ore. -- An Oregon Army National Guard helicopter airlifted an injured climber off Mount Hood and took him to a Portland hospital.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says the climber was at the 10,000-foot level of the mountain when he reportedly fell at least 100 feet and suffered a head injury.
A doctor and a paramedic were in the climbing party and cared for the man until help arrived Sunday afternoon.
The helicopter took the climber to OHSU Hospital. The man's name has not been released, but the sheriff's office says he is in his 30s and from out of state.
