What's open on the holiday?
What's open or closed for the Independence Day holiday Friday
What's open and what's closed on the Independence Day holiday Friday:
• All banks, credit unions, public libraries, government offices, state-owned liquor stores and post offices are closed. No home mail delivery, except Express Mail.
• Metro and other transit agencies are running on a Sunday schedule, with Sunday/holiday fares. Some routes will not be in service. All Metro offices will be closed.
• The Elliott Bay Water Taxi and the West Seattle land shuttle, Route 773, will be on a Saturday schedule. The South Lake Union streetcar will be on a Sunday schedule, with added trips, about every 15 minutes, until 1 a.m. for the Lake Union fireworks show.
• Most state ferries are on a holiday schedule, with added trips for holiday traffic.
• Seattle garbage, yard-waste and recycling collections are on normal schedules.
• Most shopping malls are on holiday hours.
• Expect traffic delays in areas near Fourth of July fireworks displays, parades and other community events.
