BELLINGHAM — A man accused of attacking a woman camping in Bellingham's Maritime Heritage Park has been charged with rape.
Bail for the 36-year-old man, Hector Serano Salinas, was set Tuesday at $1 million. He'll be arraigned July 11 in Whatcom County Superior Court.
The woman told police she was raped at knife point early Monday. Police tracked a suspect and arrested him under a bridge.
The prosecutor says Salinas has a record that includes a drug conviction in California and several arrests for entering the United States illegally.
