Seattle police patrols to increase

The Seattle Police Department says it plans to increase patrols near Pike Place Market following a shooting that left three men hospitalized and pedestrians scrambling for cover.

SEATTLE —

The Seattle Police Department says it plans to increase patrols near Pike Place Market following a shooting that left three men hospitalized and pedestrians scrambling for cover.

Police were initially dispatched to a report at 6:05 p.m. yesterday of two people fighting (in the 2000 block of Western Avenue) near Victor Steinbrueck Park.

Police say when officers arrived, witnesses directed them toward the shooting victims lying on the sidewalk.

No arrests have been made.

Witnesses say a gunman fled in a dark blue Honda Civic. Police say the victims haven't been cooperative with police in their attempts to find the gunman. The victims' wounds weren't serious.

Police say the 40-year-old Victor Steinbrueck Park recently has been plagued by crime.
