Sound Transit completes 14 miles of track in Seattle

SEATTLE —

Sound Transit has completed 14 miles of light rail track, linking downtown Seattle with Sea-Tac Airport.

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels helped fasten the final bolts Wednesday on the southbound track and celebrated a milestone on the project.

Work continues on the last section of the northbound track. The line is scheduled to open next year.

Work on a light rail expansion to the University of Washington is scheduled to begin next year and be completed in 2016.
